Nutrition 774 (N-774) initiative is a program designed to vitalize and incentivize local action and improve food security, health, and nutrition in Nigeria. It is a comprehensive, multi-sectoral effort designed to address Nigeria's nutrition and food security challenges by fostering community engagement, multi-level governance, and multi-sectoral collaboration. The program will seek to ensure the convergence of high-impact nutrition interventions at the grassroots level. Focusing on community engagement, governance, and promoting sustainable food production, the N-774 initiative will drive catalytic improvements in nutrition outcomes across Nigeria's 774 Local Government Areas (LGAs). Through a bottom-up approach, strengthened by local governance and multi-sectoral collaboration, the program aims to empower communities, foster ownership, and ensure sustainable interventions that enhance maternal and child health, ultimately mitigating food insecurity and malnutrition.
The N774 Program seeks to leverage on the successes of the various intervention programs in Agriculture, Education and Health. Hence, the need for synergy with development partners to achieve its set objectives. The role of partners includes funding support, technical assistance to deliver the outcomes of the key interventions, and monitoring and evaluation. In particular, local NGOs may function as independent monitors for the Program.
The private sector will play.mportant role in the Program as they provide operational support as corporate social investment (CSI) to the FGN and N-774 focus States and LGAs. They may also provide technical assistance as well as funding to the Program through Government agencies at all levels.
